Loretta Lynn’s family shared a statement on Monday afternoon (March 13) as they mourned the loss of the country legend’s longtime assistant, Tim Cobb. Cobb began working with Lynn in the early 1980s, and stuck with her for about three decades. The Lynn family remembered Cobb as a member of their own family as they posted a tribute to him.
“The Lynn family is sad to announce that Loretta’s long-time assistant and dear friend, Tim Cobb, has passed away,” Lynn’s family wrote in a statement shared in a tweet. “Tim was Loretta’s assistant for thirty years, beginning in 1982. She loved him dearly, and so did we. Tim was a member of our family, and we are heartbroken.
“We will share more in honor of Tim in the days to come,” the family added, sharing a photo of Cobb with Lynn. “You may honor Tim’s memory with a gift to the Loretta Lynn Foundation.”
Lynn died on October 4, 2022, at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. She was 90. The Butcher Holler, Kentucky-born singer was known for “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “Fist City,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind),” “I’m A Honky Tonk Girl” and other classics throughout her decades-long career.
The Loretta Lynn Foundation “exists to establish, preserve, and promote public awareness of the historical and cultural contributions of Loretta Lynn and the cultural contributions of country music as a genre and to establish, preserve, and maintain an educational and recreational facility for the general public through which to give to and serve others.”
