Chris Young ignites a spark with an “in-between” flame in the latest track to release from his highly-anticipated ninth studio album. Young debuted “Right Now,” and its accompanying music video on Friday (January 12).

Young co-wrote the track with Chris DeStefano and Josh Hoge, telling the story of a couple seeking to define their romance. Young filmed the Alexia Stone- and Stephen Kinigopoulos-directed music video in Nashville, Tennessee, reuniting after teaming up on the video for “Young Love & Saturday Nights.” Young said in a statement of “Right Now”: “You’re in that in-between phase of a relationship going, ‘It’s late, I can’t sleep. I’m wondering where you are and you’re wondering where I’m at. Let’s not wonder about it anymore. Let’s be in the same place.’”

“We can’t bring ourselves to burn a bridge/ We might have to walk back across/ When it’s late, and we’re lonely, don’t wanna move on/ And our pride is the only cost/ ‘Cause that fires still burning/ And I don’t think you wanna let it go out/ So, if you won’t say it girl, I’ll say it/ What are you doin' right now”

“Right Now” is one of 18 tracks set to appear on Young’s ninth full-length studio album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, taking on the same name as his vibrant single penned by Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Josh Thompson, in addition to a posthumous credit to the late David Bowie. The album is Young’s largest to date, following the release of Famous Friends in 2021 and its deluxe edition the following year. Young is a writer on 15 of the 18 tracks, per press info about the album, and serves as a co-producer alongside Chris DeStefano and Corey Crowder.

“This is what this album felt like it needed to be for me,” Young said in a statement. “It’s a little louder, a little more raw. Even the stripped-down songs are heavier. I love creating music and I love making it and the fact that I get to do that for a living is a pretty incredible thing.”

Young recently announced his headlining “Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour 2024,” with special guest Bryan Martin. The tour is set to kick off in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with stops in Texas, Ohio and other destinations before wrapping up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. See the dates here.

“I’ve been living with it for so long, I’m so excited for people to actually be able to dig into it and hear all of it as a whole as opposed to one or two teaser clips,” Young said of his 18-track album in a previous conversation with iHeartCountry. “It’s always fun to post that stuff, but I want people to really dive into this album and enjoy the work that we’ve put into it.

“I know it’s gonna sound cliché, but this is one of my favorite projects I’ve ever made,” he continued. “If there was actually any inspiration for me being fired up and working on myself, it would probably be that the music is so good. I’m really, really proud of this project. I want people to hear it.”

Young Love & Saturday Nights is set to release on March 22.
