Eric Church offered a sneak peek of “Hands of Time,” the next single to release from the award-winning country star since he delivered a moving tribute to his home state in the aftermath of of Hurricane Helene.
“We ain’t as young as we used to be,” Church quoted the lyrics as he shared a snippet of his soon-to-release anthem on Tuesday morning (March 18). He previously confirmed that the song will make its debut on Thursday (March 20) after sharing cryptic hints.
“Hands of Time” follows “Darkest Hour,” a ballad that Church released to help his home state of North Carolina after devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Church signed over publishing royalties to support those impacted by the hurricane when he released the song in October 2024. A few weeks later, Church and fellow North Carolina-born country star Luke Combs teamed up to host a massive benefit show, Concert for Carolina, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The all-star fundraising concert also included James Taylor , Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman, The Avett Brothers, Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice and Parmalee, plus special appearances by Randy Travis and others. Concert for Carolina raised more than $24.5 million, Combs confirmed the day after the event.
“Darkest Hour” was Church’s first solo release in more than three years. He opted to release it early to help the people of North Carolina as he continued to work on a project he aimed to release this year, he explained at the time. Prior to “Darkest Hour,” Church’s latest release was his triple set, Heart & Soul. He’s also known for “Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand,” “Record Year,” “Talladega,” and other career-spanning hits.
