Reba McEntire is gearing up for another season of The Voice — with “new energy” and “new rules” — in a new preview for the show shared on Wednesday (September 3).

The legendary country artist will return as a coach in the upcoming 28th season with Niall HoranSnoop Dogg and Michael Bublé, plus host Carson Daly. McEntire previously served as Battle Advisor and Mega Mentor before making her debut as a coach in 2023, following Blake Shelton’s departure. The newest trailer for season 28 shows McEntire and the other coaches share a surprised reaction to Daly's new “Carson Callback” feature on the show. NBC notes that the newly-introduced rule will allow Daly “to ‘call back’ an Artist who doesn't advance in the competition.” However, “all will be revealed” during the season premiere.

“I love to encourage,” McEntire said of her experience on The Voice in a previous interview with iHeartCountry. “I can’t tell anybody, ‘Don’t do this. Go get a job. You’re not suited for this.’ But the way that we get to do the – I don’t say critique – advice, it’s helpful advice. It’s not tear-down. We want to lift up. We want to inspire. We want to encourage, not tear down. They get enough of that out there in the world.”

McEntire previously said she’s “got my game face on and I’m ready to WIN“ in the upcoming season. The new season of The Voice will premiere on September 22.
