Last weekend, I was hanging out with a few teachers who were telling us how 6-7 has become an all-consuming phrase in their classroom. In fact, Dictionary.com has declared “67” (pronounced “six-seven,” not sixty-seven) its 2025 Word of the Year, citing a surge in searches and social-media usage beginning in summer 2025.
BUT, is it all about to come crashing down?
Parents are fighting back against the 6-7 phrase...by wearing costumes inspired by it. The idea? Super simple: wear matching sweatshirts or T-shirts with the numbers “6” and “7” on them. That’s it. Some are DIY-ing it with fabric paint, while others are buying pre-made versions online.
The goal isn’t just to join the trend – it’s to end it.
Parents are trolling their kids by embracing the meme so hard that it becomes uncool. One couple posted their costume with the caption, “Our kids hate our Halloween costume,” and people loved it. Commenters called it “doing god’s work” and “single-handedly ending a movement.”
Will it work? All I know is, nothing will kill a kid-trend more than adults joining in :)
